About Us
The Friends of Thomas Edison National Historic Park (NHP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Thomas A. Edison's laboratory and home. Members and volunteers have a special appreciation of Edison the man and his achievements. Through the efforts of you and other members, Edison's prolific career and dedication to work can inspire generations to come.
Thomas Edison NHP was established by and act of Congress to preserve the Laboratory and home (Glenmont) of Thomas A. Edison, related historic objects and papers and to provide opportunities for the peoples of the world to know and appreciate Thomas Edison and his works. Thomas Edison and his works still live at this National Historic Site which includes 22 historic structures, furnished historic rooms, exhibits, and a museum collection of approximately 400,000 artifacts, 40,000 sound recordings, 60,000 historic photographs, and 5 million archival documents. Over 60,000 people, including schoolchildren and foreign visitors tour the Site each year.
